Position Summary
The Safety & Facilities Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of safety and facility functions and duties. The coordinator will promote a safe working environment and coordinate efforts to ensure the company’s facilities are maintained such that they are always inviting in appearance and functionality to all employees and guests. The coordinator will oversee practices and objectives that provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. The coordinator will support the implementation of services, policies, and programs and assist team members with safety and facility inquiries. To perform the Safety & Facilities Coordinator job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily.
Essential Functions and Duties
- Plan and implement safety policies and programs
- Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics
- Attend educational seminars and webinars on a regular basis.
- Review existing policies and procedures
- Adhere to all the rules and regulations
- Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and safety-related audits
- Enforce preventative measures
- Identify hazards and offer timely solutions
- Ensure employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulations
- Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes
- Oversee & coordinate workplace repair, and installation of equipment
- Act as chair for local Safety Committee
- Attend and assist coordination efforts for the Emergency Preparedness Committee
- Act as Emergency Lead for annual fire and disaster drills
- Display dedication to position responsibilities and achieve assigned goals and objectives.
- Assist in creating & implementing safety and facilityprograms and plans while ensuring they are followed daily.
- Work with the Senior Safety & Facilities Director to coordinate and implement safety and facility efforts.
- Educate employees on safety standards and expectations.
- Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace.
- Coordinate & conduct safety meetings & training.
- Investigate accidents that occur and identify possible root causes.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments and respond to ergonomic requests.
- Maintain documentation of safety procedures, accidents, maintenance, and other recordkeeping items.
- Coordinate all facilities related maintenance and repairs including grounds maintenance, physical structure integrity, window maintenance, lighting, plumbing, electrical, etc.
- Coordinate and oversee regularly scheduled preventative maintenance of fire suppression systems, back-up power systems, fire and burglar alarm systems, and HVAC systems.
- Maintain a complete and accurate filing system for all safety and facility related records.
- Work together with fellow warehouse personnel to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Adheres specifically to all company policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations and laws.

- Comply with the policies and procedures stated in the Injury and Illness Prevention Program by always working in a safe manner and immediately reporting any injury, safety hazard, or program violation.
- Ensure conduct is consistent with all Compliance Program Policies and procedures when engaging in any activity on behalf of the company. Immediately report any concerns or violations.
- Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as fire and insurance personnel.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Required Education:
- Associate’s degree in occupational safety and health, related field, or two (2) years relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- OSHA 30 certificate, or equivalent certificates (e.g., ASSP, NSC, etc.)
Required Knowledge:
- Basic understanding of federal, state, and local safety requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DOT, and IATA.
- Basic understanding of facility management
Required Experience:
- Experience in implementing safety and facility-related programs, training, and policies
- Two (2) years [four (4) for non-degreed candidates] of experience as a Safety & Facilities Coordinator or similar role
- Must have a high level of integrity as proven personally and professionally
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Working in a health care setting a plus.
Required Skills:
- Must be able to follow processes and complete repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to learn complex processes quickly and find ways to improvement processes
- Must display an excellent attention to details and ability to catch errors
- Must have strong ability to research and find solutions.
- Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be proficient in creating and editing documents in Microsoft Word and Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
- Always maintain confidentiality and represent the company in a professional manner and appearance.
- Must be a motivated, creative, and energetic multi-tasking Safety Coordinator. This position will require the candidate to be adaptable, transparent, and a quick learner with the ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interfacing and corresponding with multiple levels of management.
- Must have excellent customer service and organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.

Physical requirements
Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must have the ability to view a computer screen for long periods and the ability to sit for extended periods. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. The employee occasionally lifts up to 35 lbs. and occasionally kneels and bends. Must have the ability to travel occasionally. Working condition include normal office setting/warehouse.
