Responsibilities
State Farm (Richardson, TX) seeks a Lead Software Engineer to design, develop, implement, troubleshoot and support BMC Helix to enhance customer experience and follow regulatory guidelines. Specific duties include: utilize up-to-date coding, testing, security, DevOps, and software engineering practices to maintain and create new applications that support business requirements; collect and analyze information to identify customer's technical needs, suggest solutions and develop implementation and integration plans (e.g., technical proposals); be responsible for the analysis, design, deployment, support, and security of technology to ensure the organization is efficiently managing its technology and data-related assets in accordance with market best-practices and external regulations; exhibit DevOps and Agile mindset where team is accountable for product from inception to sunset; possess an understanding of User Experience practices to improve usability and interaction between the customer and product; and apply a wide application of complex principles, theories, and concepts in computer science for software engineering solutions. Must take and pass CodeVue Test. Quarterly travel to Richardson, TX office for team meetings required. Annual travel to Bloomington, IL office for team meetings required. Option to work remotely.
Qualifications
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, or a closely related field of study, plus 6 years of experience in the job offered, as a Software Developer, Software Engineer, Programmer Analyst, or similar positions in technical administration or application development. Must have 2 years of experience in Infrastructure Programming and Computer Programming. Specific experience must also include: Managing Windows/SQL or Linux servers and associated infrastructure to support vendor applications; Administrating AWS and cloud technologies along with skills in object oriented programming languages (Java/JavaScript) and scripting tools; Developing custom applications, forms, workflows, and integrations using BMC Remedy Developer Studio; Working with AR System architecture, including the database schema, server components, and web services; Implementing BMC Remedy ITSM modules, including Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, and Service Request Management; Developing integrations with other systems using BMC Remedy APIs, including REST API, Java API; Administering BMC Remedy environments, including installing, configuring, and managing servers, databases, and other components; Troubleshooting BMC Remedy applications and integrations, including identifying and resolving issues related to performance, functionality, and integration; working database design and administration; Working with database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL; Building BMC Remedy custom application to analyze business processes and requirements and to translate them into technical specifications; working closely with business stakeholders to identify their needs and to design solutions that meet those needs; Working with programming languages like Java, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for customizing and extending the platform; Working with BMC Helix ITSM to build custom applications that integrate seamlessly with the ITSM processes; Working with micro services architecture to effectively upgrade from BMC Remedy platform to Helix; Working with Amazon Web Services (AWS); Working with DevOps practices and associated tools such as Jenkins, Git, and Docker; Working with Kubernetes to enable continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) of applications; Developing applications using low-code tools such as drag-and-drop interfaces, visual workflows, and declarative programming; Working with the toolset provided by the Helix platform, including the Studio Designer, Studio Modeler, and Studio Integrator.
