Full Job Description

Summary

This position serves as an Advanced Practice Nurse (Women's Health) for the Lawton Indian Hospital in Lawton, OK. The incumbent serves as a member of the health care team who provides direct and comprehensive primary, preventive and therapeutic health care to women. This position reports to the Clinical Director of the facility.

Duties

  • Orders and/or performs screening and diagnostic tests and procedures (lab studies, x-rays, ultrasounds, fetal monitoring, etc.)
  • Provides surveillance of medical regimens for pregnant women, recognizing when to refer the patient to a physician or other health area team member.
  • Performs minor surgical and invasive procedures i.e., insertion and/or removal of birth control capsules and/or implants.
  • Makes diagnosis and decisions concerning medical and nursing care needs of the patient, formulates and implements a plan of care which may involve various treatment modalities, prescribes medications, consults with other health care providers.
  • Documents data, patient assessment and care plan in acceptable form in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):

EDUCATION

Nursing Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

AND

Advanced Practice Nursing Degree: Applicants must possess a graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position - Women's Health.

AND

LICENSURE

RN License: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination AND applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

AND

Advanced Practice Nurse License: Applicants must be licensed or registered by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by the position - Women's Health.

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

GS-12:Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Experience in the ability to assess and treat acute minor illnesses such as UTIs, ability to assess, treat and counsel on STDs, ability to counsel patients in family planning and birth control measures. Experience in counseling infertility in patients including scheduling and performing routine tests and providing education and support. Performing colposcopy and ultrasound evaluation, experience in obstetrical and gynecological physical evaluations. Experience in evaluating patients for sexual abuse and experience in performing sexual assault exams. Experience in diagnosing and treating changes in menstruation.
