Responsibilities*
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Perform vital sign checks.
- Perform chem sticks.
- Assist patients with or administer routine personal hygiene.
- Prepare patients for appointments.
- Ambulate, move, and lift patients.
- Assist with feeding patients.
- Assist patient with bed pan and urinal service and record output.
- Assist nurse with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
- Respond to call lights.
- Work under the supervision of a professional nurse.
- Assist in obtaining and caring for equipment.
- Help maintain a safe, clean environment on the patient unit.
Required Qualifications*
Must currently be enrolled in a Nursing program and have completed at least one clinical rotation or have Nurse Aide certification.
Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities which include moving, transporting and positioning patients and equipment as well and constantly positioning self to provide patient care and related duties.
Work Schedule
8hr Shifts, including days, evenings and midnights.

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
