Job Summary

The Department of Recreational Services is seeking student staff to help create a welcoming and safe environment in the Recreation Center. Openings include weight room attendant for the winter semester. Shifts may be days or evenings, weekdays or weekends, depending on availability.  Hourly wage begins at $15/hour.  

Responsibilities*

  • Providing on-site supervision of weight room to ensure patron safety.  
  • Light cleaning and regular checks of cardio room and indoor track.  
  • Greet patrons and assist with providing answers to questions.  
  • Enforcement of facility policies.  
  • Respond to emergencies and provide first aid when necessary.  

Required Qualifications*

  • Current UM-Flint student
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion
  • Ability to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certification

Desired Qualifications*

Work study award for upcoming academic semester.

Modes of Work

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence.  Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
