This is a Full-Time, Temporary Position at the Bunkhouse Corporate Office. Duration: 11/4/24 - March 28, 2025
The Temporary Hospitality Designer is responsible for designing and facilitating hospitality projects at Bunkhouse Group. The person in this role will support the Design Team while coordinating with fellow design team members, clients, vendors, and consultants. They will be responsible for assisting with all stages of design from concept through CA and managing project-related tasks.
Applicants must have great communication skills, the ability to problem solve, and a thorough understanding of the Bunkhouse brand and policies. Furthermore, all Design team members must develop and maintain the company’s culture, values, and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors, and partners.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate on hospitality interiors projects, including programming client needs, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and management of budgets and schedules
- Create mood boards and design presentations
- Produce 3D models and rendered floor plans, elevations, and 3D views
- Document design through producing full sets of construction drawings
- Document design through writing specifications
- Source and select all FFE, including furniture, finishes, hardware, and plumbing specifications
- Review and assess vendor proposals
- Coordinate the activities of on-site and off-site consultants
- Collaborate with the VP of Design and Director of Design to ensure the client’s needs/vision and Bunkhouse standards are met
- Attend site visits and client/vendor coordination meetings in and outside of Austin; Some travel will be necessary
- Respond to Construction Submittals and RFI’s for projects in the Construction Administration phase
- Assist in preparing preliminary construction and FF&E estimates, bid requests, de-scope, and proposals for small projects at properties
- Assist in maintaining the materials library & resource catalogs
- Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instruction
Qualifications
- MS, BFA, or BS in interior design or architecture preferred, but not required
- A minimum of five (5) years related experience in hospitality design
- Strong experience with the interior design process, including familiarity with FFE resources and construction documentation preparation
- Comprehensive knowledge of hospitality design standards and operations, including fire safety codes, ADA codes, and applicable codes for textiles, furnishings, and finishes
- Proven organizational abilities and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects, clients, and complex consultant relationships
- Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Design Spec
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word) and/or Google Suite (including Slides, Sheets, and Docs)
- Rendering skills for interior elevations, plans, finishes, and custom furniture
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before clients, colleagues, and sister property staff
- Ability to apply basic concepts of math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and algebra, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
