The Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture and Design is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic artist for a position in the Master of Architecture Program as a full-time untenured Assistant/Associate Professor https://architecture.indiana.edu/academics/index.html), to begin August 1, 2025. Ideal candidates should have a minimum MFA or M.Arch with expertise in drawing, printmaking, painting and/or sculpture. Candidates should also possess an outstanding artistic portfolio with demonstrable experience exhibiting their work in solo and group shows. This position is situated in a unique Master of Architecture Program that offers students studio instruction in fine arts alongside architectural design, thus preference will be given to candidates that demonstrate interest in cross-disciplinary educational models. This tenure track position requires that the candidate have potential to produce significant scholarship through publications, exhibitions, or symposia with national or international recognition. In addition to scholarship and service through committees, the successful candidate will teach graduate-level studios in the core curriculum with a focus on visual representation through drawing, printmaking, painting and sculptural work.

The primary location of this position is Columbus, Indiana. The J. Irwin Miller Architecture Program is housed in the landmarked Republic Building, which is one of over eighty significant works of architecture in the city of Columbus. Faculty members will also occasionally travel to Indiana University’s main campus in Bloomington, where various programs and administrative offices of the Eskenazi School are located. We are especially interested in leaders who can prepare students to respond to the complex cultural, social, technological, and environmental challenges of our contemporary era.

Position Summary
Position Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Teaching graduate-level studios in visual representation, including foundational instruction in drawing, printmaking, painting, and three-dimensional work.
• Fulfill an annual course-load of 12 credit-hours during the 10-month academic year.
• Actively engage in scholarly work and creative activity through publications, exhibitions, symposia, or other nationally/internationally recognized forums.
  
• Assist in shaping and realizing the central goals of the program’s strategic plan.
• Serve on program, school, or college-level committees as needed.
  
• Assist with the NAAB accreditation process in coordination with the program Director, Assistant Director, faculty, and staff.
• Work in collaboration with community organizations and partners to expand the program’s impact and outreach, locally, regionally, and abroad.
• Help orchestrate travel abroad programs, as well as lectures and exhibitions hosted by the program.
• Advise individual students and student-led organizations.
• Collaborate with the Graduate Recruitment Coordinator, Director of Communications and Marketing, and fellow faculty members as a participant in events and activities related to marketing and recruitment.
• Uphold the Eskenazi School’s Mission and Values as outlined in current Governance Documents (https://eskenazi.indiana.edu/faculty/faculty-governance.html).
• Fulfill the requirements of the Eskenazi School’s Promotion and Tenure Procedures (Appendix 1) for tenure-track and tenured faculty members, including providing evidence of excellence in research/creative activity, teaching, and service.

• MFA or M.Arch with expertise in drawing, printmaking, painting and/or sculpture.

• Ability to teach foundational studios in drawing, printmaking, painting, and three-dimensional work.
