The SVASC at Bridgewater State University is dedicated to reducing incidents of sexual assault and relationship violence on campus and within the community in the form of awareness campaigns, prevention education and confidential advocacy support. The SVAS Center, in compliance with best practices and recommendations of Massachusetts Department of Higher Education and the CDC, uses innovative approaches to educate and create awareness around topics of sexual assault, harassment, dating and domestic violence, and stalking. To better serve, support, and ensure the safety of our BSU community, the center promotes the ideals of respect, community, responsibility, and nonviolence.The center is composed of an Assistant Director, Program Assistant, peer educators and interns, who are responsible for the daily operations of the centerPosition Type
TemporaryEssential Duties
As the part-time prevention educator, you will be trained, supervised by the Assistant Director, and responsible for the following:Adopting an intersectional approach to violence prevention education incorporating disparities of marginalized identities Co-plan/co-create, implement, and assess violence prevention education Promote and schedule prevention education trainings with student organizations, leaders, and departments Establish new and strengthen existing partnerships throughout the campus community Mentor peer educators of the Outreach & Events SVASC team Develop social media prevention content Maintain records of training data Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in social work, public health, psychology, sociology, or other related human service fields Demonstrated ability to work effectively, as part of a team, with individuals and groups from diverse identities, cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging Demonstrated strong oral and written communication and public speaking skills Strong planning and organizational skills Familiarity with Google and Microsoft applicationsPreferred Qualifications
Knowledge of violence prevention & intervention and strong theoretical and/or practical understanding of power-based violence, such as stalking, relationship violence, sexual harassment, sexual assault, etc. Familiar with SVASC services and BSU resourcesWork Environment
