Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking experienced Navigation Technician who is ready to join our dynamic team of engineers, technologists, and military veterans. This position will be located in Wallops Island, VA at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC). The SCSC provides live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric, maritime environment to develop, test, evaluate and conduct fleet operations and training for the warfighter. The AEGIS Complex provides support to AEGIS and AEGIS Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Lifetime Support Engineering, Training, In-Service Engineering, Interoperability Testing, Engineering Initiatives, and Technical Research & Development required to maintain and upgrade the AEGIS and AEGIS BMD equipped fleet in war ready condition and fully capable of executing its mission. The selected candidate will configure, initialize and maintain the various Navigation systems at SCSC. The candidate will also work closely work with systems engineers to activate new advanced combat system casualties, support fleet readiness events and large multi-system multi-platform Operational test events

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Minimum education and years of service required: High School/GED and more than three years of demonstrated experience assessing, troubleshooting, and performing corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance on systems and equipment. PQS 301 qualification is required. If selected candidate is not PQS 301 qualified on or before hire date, he/she must be willing and able to obtain PQS 301 qualification within 3 months of employment. Successful candidate must have knowledge of some of the systems: WSN7 NAVSSI GPNTS FODMS GEDMS Successful candidate must be willing and able to perform in a variety of 40 hour work-week configurations, including: 1. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 1st Shift 2. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 2nd Shift 3. Variable 4 x 10 shifts that may include weekends (4 days on/3 days off) and may be 1st or 2nd shift 4. Sliding (5 x 8) work weeks (Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday) and may be 1st or 2nd shift **PLEASE NOTE - These work week configurations may be scheduled on a rotational basis This position requires the successful candidate to be able to obtain a Secret level clearance. The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are driven by US government requirements. You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance. If selected candidate is not in possession of an active Secret clearance, then he/she will receive a contingent offer and start date will be delayed until an interim Secret clearance is granted.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Active DoD Secret security clearance Navy Technical "C" school training or civilian/commercial equivalent in any one of the three SPY radar variants currently deployed in the fleet UNIX-based open architecture experience; ability to understand UNIX-based program commands and local area network (LAN) theory Knowledge of, or experience in, troubleshooting and maintaining functional equipment areas of the AEGIS Combat System. Experience interfacing and working closely with US Navy personnel, civilian government personnel and technical representatives from government contractors

Pay Information
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
