We are seeking a Senior Project Manager with a strong background in Agile/Scrum methodologies and extensive experience in traditional project management to support a government contract. This role is focused on developing a network/project workflow diagram that outlines and visualizes approximately 27 workflows over a five-year project plan. The deliverable will consolidate data from Smartsheets into a clear, concise, and visually comprehensive diagram to be delivered to the client.

The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in managing complex projects, translating technical project data into actionable visuals, and effectively engaging with government or challenging clients. This role requires a proactive leader with excellent communication skills, the ability to manage expectations, and a strong understanding of Agile processes.

Work Environment and Hours:

  • Hybrid: Remote in DC with onsite meetings with the client
  • Time Commitment:
    • First 2-3 weeks: Full-time hours.
    • Remaining project time: Part-time hours tapering off as the diagram is refined and finalized.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Workflow Diagram Creation:

    • Develop a network/project workflow diagram based on a five-year Smartsheet plan, mapping out approximately 27 workflows.
    • Highlight dependencies, cyclical processes, and parallel activities in a clear, logical visual format.
    • Translate complex timelines and tasks into a comprehensive and easily digestible visual model for both internal and client use.
  • Client Management:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact with the government client, ensuring alignment, expectation management, and regular communication.
    • Navigate challenging client interactions with professionalism and tact, delivering updates and gathering feedback as needed.
    • Participate in weekly or biweekly client meetings and present project updates or deliverables as required.
  • Project Management:

    • Apply Agile/Scrum principles to organize, refine, and iterate on the workflow model.
    • Ensure adherence to the scope of the government contract, managing deliverables to comply with contractual obligations.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather all relevant data, validate accuracy, and incorporate feedback into the diagram.
  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Create project documentation to accompany the workflow diagram, ensuring the client has full clarity on its components.
    • Ensure all deliverables meet the high standards expected by government contracts, avoiding errors or omissions that could impact compliance.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:

    • Work closely with internal teams, including marketing and project management professionals, to gather necessary inputs.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure workflows consider all aspects of project execution, including media campaigns, website development, and parallel initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • 10+ years of project management experience in traditional and Agile/Scrum environments, with Senior Director to VP-level exposure.
    • Proven expertise in network diagram creation and project workflow visualization.
    • Familiarity with government contracts and working with government clients is a significant advantage.
    • Background in marketing project management (e.g., campaign planning, website launches) is a plus.
    • Scrum Master Certification is required.
    • Proficiency in Smartsheets, including extracting and organizing complex data into visual formats.
    • Strong ability to create and refine project diagrams, such as Gantt charts, network diagrams, or 360 models.
    • General familiarity with Agile frameworks such as SAFe and Sprint planning.
  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent client-facing communication skills, with the ability to present to and engage with senior stakeholders.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure error-free deliverables.
    • Proactive and adaptable, with the ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver under pressure.
    • Ability to handle challenging client relationships with diplomacy and professionalism.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $80 to $85 hourly. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
