Integrated Medical Group, PC Medical Assistant (Certified)

Reports to: Office Manager


POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the Medical Assistant assists physicians with basic clinical and administrative tasks, assists with direct patient care and performs specialized medical procedures of a routine nature as directed by established practice protocol. Duties include practice maintenance and preparation for patients as well as assisting with administrative duties.








Duties and Responsibilities - Clinical:

  • Prepares patient for exam by taking and recording vital signs and assisting in obtaining patient histories.
  • Assists physician with medical exam and medical procedures
  • Performs routine specialized procedures such as venipuncture, catheterization and sterile dressing changes under established protocols.
  • Ensures proper documentation within patient charts.
  • Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Prepares laboratory specimens for delivery and receives results for processing into the patient charts.
  • Cleans, disinfects and sterilizes medical equipment.
  • Maintains clinic supply levels and stocks exam room medical cabinets.

Duties and Responsibilities - Administrative:

  • Observes policies on confidentiality and privacy.
  • Assists with front-desk reception.
  • Answers the telephone promptly and politely.
  • Assists with file clerk responsibilities as needed.
  • Greets patients and facilitates completion of registration forms.
  • Orders supplies and maintains equipment.
  • Schedules ancillary tests such as x-rays and blood work.
  • Performs other related duties as deemed necessary by Office Manager and/or physicians.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • State of Pennsylvania Medical Assistant certification
  • Maintains current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification (CPR)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience in a medical office setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Computer knowledge

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Skilled in performing basic clinical/administrative procedures
  • Strong patient satisfaction orientation

Physical Demands:

  • Individuals must be able to meet established specific physical requirements of the job including sitting at a desk or meeting table, reaching, lifting, pulling, bending, stooping, twisting, standing, walking, etc.
  • Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

  • Normal practice environment
