Under the direction of the Video Production Manager, the Temporary Production Assistant and Camera Operator works collaboratively with the Berklee POPP video team during on-location and in-studio video shoots. This position requires a familiarity with video camera operation, video production, and an ability to work in a collaborative and professional environment. The Temporary Production Assistant & Camera Operator will be expected to uphold and contribute to the video team’s high standards and quality of video production. This role has fluctuating hours based on our team's filming schedule which can vary from a few hours a month to 35 hours a week.

Capabilities Required (Experience, Education, Skills)

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field and/or 4+ years of professional experience in video production, including camera operation, lighting, audio recording, and equipment setup and breakdown.

  • Comfortable working in-studio and on location settings.

  • Facilitating production crew needs including, food runs, gear transportation, and miscellaneous work on an as needed basis.

  • Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds of equipment.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with people in the office as well as remote employees.

  • Knowledge of RED cameras and workflow preferred.

  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work in a team-based, fast-paced atmosphere with high standards for quality, accuracy, and innovation.

  • Action-oriented, “can do” attitude demonstrating willingness to accept accountability and responsibility for individual actions.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights/weekends and long shoot days as needed.

  • Familiarity with music theory, music business, and music production technologies preferred.

Use of Capabilities (Illustrated by Typical Activities)

  • Operating cameras with the Berklee POPP video team.

  • Setting up, breaking down, and transporting video equipment for on location or studio based video shoots.

  • Acting as a Runner on set to get meals for talent and crew.

  • Working with Berklee POPP Video Producers in adjusting lighting, sound equipment, and miscellaneous other production needs.

  • Other roles include but are not limited to, operating slate, operating camera sliders, tripods, hand-held and shoulder rigs, participating in test shoots, troubleshooting equipment, attending to talent needs, and taking shoot-day notes.
