Summary

This position is located under the Clinical Services Division at the Colorado River Service Unit, Parker Indian Health Center and Moapa Health Clinic. The incumbent functions as a Physician and Supervisory Physician for the local patient population and as many patients from surrounding areas. The incumbent is responsible for the organization, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Incumbent provides comprehensive primary care for family practice care from all ages of life.

Clinical Responsibilities (75%)

  • Responsibility for diagnosis, prevention, therapy, maintenance and rehabilitation of patients. Provides independent diagnostic, preventive and medical services for patients of varying complexity and advanced nature utilizing advanced clinical and analytical skills.
  • Counsels patients and families in health education, for a diverse and complex patient population, with consideration of the patient's learning needs, learning readiness and impediments to the process.
  • Acts as a preceptor to new staff and students to the organization. Performs clinical practice peer review and develops multidisciplinary quality improvement programs and projects.
  • Maintains and analyzes computerized data and independently develops charts, graphs and statistical analyses from clinical data. Directs and performs quality assurance and quality control activities as they relate to protocol adherence, protocol monitoring, data collection, and data analysis.
Consulting, Program Development, and Leadership (25%)
  • Directly supervise physicians, mid-level providers, health technicians including performance appraisals, department scheduling, and yearly training and certification requirements and completing recruitment for positions and disciplinary actions. Reviews day-to-day operations, including Health Clinic needs and future needed positions.

Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 40 hours per week.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Individual Occupational Requirements
Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the ; ; ; , or an accrediting body recognized by the at the time the degree was obtained.

Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the , a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below.
  • An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the (ACGME).
  • A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a recognized body of the , (AMA) or (ACGME).
  • A fellowship program involves advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United States for such training.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completed 5 years of residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training. And
  • One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Experience with Administration management, Conflict management, Managing Human Resources for recruitment/placement/retention and coordinate the day-to -day clinical functions of an outpatient , inpatient and ambulatory care medical services; Management of work schedules for subordinate staff and approval of leave requests along with performance evaluations.
Selective Placement Factor - Board Eligible/Certified: In addition to the minimum requirements, the following certification is determined to be essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of a particular position.   • Current Board Certification in the physician's specialty by the (ABMS) or the (AOA). Must submit the name of the Medical Board and certification dates with application.
