Job Summary
The Superintendent of Cash Collection is responsible for overseeing the collection, transport, and safe deposit of all the Authority's cash and coin. The Superintendent of Cash Collection will ensure that the Authority is prepared to accept and distribute currency all locations, machines, and equipment where appropriate. The Superintendent of Cash Collection will oversee these operations and coordinate the operations of collecting and transporting cash to minimize any impact to customers. Furthermore, the Superintendent of Cash Collection will occasionally audit these operations, monitoring performance and safety standards. The Superintendent of Cash Collection will also be responsible for continuing to identify cost-savings opportunities through routing efficiencies, and related operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Track and verify vendor-provided cash in transit services.
- Verify that high-quality services were performed as scheduled.
- Direct and control the work and resources of the Cash Collection operations.
- Ensure maintenance of high level of security, control and performance standards adhering to SOPs, policies and guidelines prescribed by the company.
- Make recommendations to improve efficiency, cost, effectiveness, and security.
- Ensure effective customer service and relations through timely delivery of high-quality services.
- Select, train, develop and motivate staff to maintain high level of efficiency and security.
- Ensure compliance of Cash Collection operations with company policies.
- Promote and maintain a secure and safe working environment within the Cash Collections operations.
- Set goals, develop action plans, and monitor their execution.
- Monitor and analyzes transportation spending against budgets, plans, and goals, ensuring costs are minimized and service to the customer is maximized.
- Works closely with department heads to ensure resource availability and timely logistics support for maximum customer service at minimal cost.
- Operation of MBTA vehicle to travel to stations, garages, and other MBTA properties.
- Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned.

- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration or related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in an auditing, financial oversight, or financial forecasting position.
- One (1) year of supervisory, managerial, and or leadership experience managing a team.
- Demonstrated organizational, analytical, time management and multi-tasking skills.
- The ability to use Outlook, Access, Project, Power Point, Word and Excel.
- Have excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to comprehend, communicate, and respond to instructions, orders, signs, notices, inquiries, etc.
- Successful applicant must have English language skills required for the effective performance of the position.
- Ability to provide internal and external customers with courteous and professional experiences.
- Ability to supervise or work effectively with diverse workforce.
- Valid driver's license in accordance with MBTA policy.
Substitutions Include
- A High School Diploma or GED with an additional seven (7) years of directly related experience substitutes for the bachelor's degree requirement.
- An associate degree from an accredited institution an additional three (3) years of directly related experience substitutes for the bachelor's degree requirement.
- A master's degree in a related subject substitutes for two (2) years of general experience.
- A nationally recognized certification, or statewide/professional certification in a related field substitutes for one year of experience.

- Ability to work all shifts and / or locations assigned, directed, or necessary for this position, including (for some transit / operations roles) up to twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week as necessary to accommodate severe weather conditions, emergencies, or any other circumstances that may potentially impact service or the safety of service
