IGS is currently recruiting for a remote SQL Developer to support our work with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Assignment of Work and Travel:

This is a remote access assignment. Candidate will work remotely daily and will remotely access VA systems and therein use approved VA provided communications systems. Travel is not required; however, the candidate may be required to attend onsite client meetings as requested.

Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):

  • ETL (Extract Transform and Load) to put data into a variety of target formats (text, SQL, Parquet, CSV, MDF, IRIS)
  • Model data tables and make practical and usable within the evolving data syndication database architecture.
  • Design the logical and physical schemas needed to support an enterprise dimensional model.
  • Evaluate commercial modeling tools against internal offerings to determine the best fit and capabilities.
  • Evaluate commercial data cataloging platforms with possible implementation.
  • Support deployment and change management efforts.
  • Provide input on customer access security models.
  • Write SQL queries and the performance of queries; develop and update data models that support applicable VA enterprise data standards and the ability for VA to adopt emerging industry data standards.
  • Create or enhance database architectures and designs to meet data integration needs as they arise.
  • Deliver all code, documentation for that code, compliant code that conforms to all VA security regulations, and written artifacts about the techniques, and tools used in the codes production.
  • Shall assist with work using InterSystems HealthConnect, HealthShare or similar tools with potential use of Software Document Architecture (SDA) mapping, terminologies, and other features to allow data to be both input and output in various forms.
  • Enhance performance or to enlarge or enhance the scale of data and/or users, architectural design changes may be required but must be cleared with the government Project Manager.

Requirements:

  • BS Degree: computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience; additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • Hands-on expertise using Microsoft SQL Server; including daily use of T-SQL scripts.
  • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), ERWIN or similar tools to automate, monitoring, design, or data mapping functions.
  • Programming languages experience in C#, .NET libraries, ASP.NET, JavaScript with Libraries, Angular, jQuery, React and Cache Object Script (COS).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and organization skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship due to clearance.

Preferred Qualifications and Core Competencies:

  • Active VA Public Trust
  • Experience with PowerShell or bash scripts and Azure Databricks  
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, especially Power BI
  • Prior, successful experience working in a remote environment.

Compensation: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary, including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
