WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

With a high degree of autonomy and self-initiative, the Senior Paralegal provides an advanced level of expertise to support and coordinate legal services on complex contractual, corporate, and compliance matters, ensuring that transaction and corporate documentation is legally sound and consistent with TNC's mission, authority, policies, and procedures, donor requirements, and local regulations; and providing prompt and complete response to attorney and internal client requests. The Senior Paralegal applies specialized knowledge and skills to serve attorneys and internal clients effectively and efficiently by conducting documentary review, assuring compliance with internal substantive and procedural requirements, donor conditions, tracking the status of the contractual process, and coordinating corporate filings and local compliance. The Senior Paralegal is able to effectively articulate relevant legal concepts and internal policies and procedures to others and has a solid understanding of the concept of legal liability, cost/benefit analysis, and risk management.


WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU

We are a global conservation organization looking for an experienced paralegal to provide legal services for our programs. You'll have exceptional communication and organizational skills, be self-motivated, detail oriented, able to multi-task and complete many items simultaneously with great customer service skills! English as well as Spanish and/or Portuguese language fluency is required. The Senior Paralegal will work out of The Nature Conservancy's Arlington, Virginia office on a hybrid schedule, and must become a Notary Public in Virginia if they do not already hold an active commission in the state.


WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Bachelor's degree plus at least 5 years of combined legal and administrative experience OR equivalent qualifications acquired through coursework and/or related job experience in area(s) of specialization.

  • Fluency in English and either Portuguese or Spanish.

  • Experience in project and/or process management for efficient workflow.

  • Relevant legal experience with international corporate and/or transactional matters in Latin America and/or the Caribbean.

  • Experience conducting research on the Internet and in other legal/divergent resources and compiling it into a cohesive reporting structure.

  • Communication, critical thinking and writing skills, including experience drafting, editing, and proofreading legal documents.

  • Experience with MS Office, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, enterprise file management solutions such as SharePoint or iManage, and any other relevant technology.

  • Must be a Virginia Notary or agree to become one.

  • Experience working across cultures.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fluency in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

  • Project Management certification.

  • Experience with accounting/financial issues and analysis.

SALARY INFORMATION

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this hourly position is generally within the range of $75,000 - $80,000 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
