Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

The candidate for this position will be part of a team performing and managing First Article Inspections for high reliability military products. Team members will include Inspection and Manufacturing Engineering support personnel who coordinate with other Operations and Engineering staff to ensure products meet all characteristics outlined for the subassemblies and products. Along with other Operations team members, you will be regularly using the online Manufacturing Execution/Quality Management system to follow work instructions, document non-conformances and record labor. This is a full time onsite position working with our Operations team.
In this position an experienced Inspector shall perform First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with Aerospace Standard AS9102.
This job role involves performing visual and dimensional checks on metal fabricated items, military high reliability assemblies and finished goods according to provided drawings, industry/military specification, and company procedures.
The candidate will ensure the accuracy and completeness of all engineering design requirements on AS9102 forms 1, 2 and 3. This includes identifying, documenting, and reporting any gaps or discrepancies found to the team and supporting staff.
Review and confirm that the First Article Inspection Record (FAIR) is accurate and complete for a part number and that all part, product, and characteristics accountability aspects are addressed prior to submitting for final approval.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Working knowledge and practical experience of the AS9102 standard and IPC-620 with at least five years of inspection experience in the military aerospace, medical or other high reliability inspection field or related technical accomplishments. This includes the review of applicable military, defense and/or drawing specifications to understand standards.
  • Ability to read and understand vendor FAIRs; vendor Certificates of Conformance; specifications; measurement equipment calibration records; online work instructions; as well as drawings including fabricated items and electronics.
  • Working knowledge of using visual magnification aides such as microscopes, portable and/or fixed magnifiers and blacklights.
  • Ability to perform or learn to perform measurements using hand tools including calipers, micrometers as well as portable or fixed coordinate measuring equipment or other precision electronic measurement devices to take direct measurements and assess adherence based on required dimensions and tolerances. This will include the ability to measure or gain the skills to complete measurements on angles, thickness, dimensions, and other characteristics specified on drawings
  • Previous experience self-checking FAIRs or other Inspection documents using a software or manual checklist before submission for approval.
  • Ability to provide written and spoken summarized feedback and to be part of a team. This includes identifying any deficiencies and documenting the precise requirement that they do not meet.
  • Ability to self-schedule and be comfortable reporting status and estimated task completion timeframes to team lead.
  • Computer skills including the Microsoft Outlook, Excel and experience or willingness to learn DISCUS ballooning software and Net-Inspect FAIR software or equivalent software tools.
  • Must be able to lift units up to a weight of 15 pounds and/or be able to utilize mobile lift tables or two man lifts for anything over a pre-established weight.
  • Familiarity with the design language of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5-1208 or the willingness to learn.
  • Ability to obtain Secret clearance if requested.
  • Completion of a high school degree or GED




Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
2-year technical degree or equivalent
Military experience.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $68520 - $109680

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
