Position Summary
The Senior Director, Facility and Automation Strategy will be responsible for developing and directing facility design and automated processes for distribution centers and pharmacies. The Senior Director will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will closely partner with the FFF Distribution Logistics team and Nufactor pharmacy operations team to identify business requirements related to new facilities, facility upgrades, and advanced automation needs. The Senior Director will lead all efforts to design, develop, and source the solution, and will either transition and oversee the efforts of assigned project managers who will be responsible for managing the details of executing the project, or will oversee the implementation details themselves.
The Senior Director will have a broad and proven skill set and experience in facility design and automation design and implementation that is applicable to pharmaceutical distribution and pharmacy fulfillment. The Director will have familiarity and established relationships with various suppliers of material handling and advanced automation systems and will have multiple experiences with facility design and build in various U.S. municipalities where both local and state approvals are required prior to commencing operations.
It is essential for the Senior Director to have multiple successful experiences leading the design, build, integration, and startup of facilities with a medium to high degree of automation. The Senior Director must also have a strong financial and business acumen to justify the costs of concepts applied to facility designs.
Essential Functions and Duties
- Collaborating with business stakeholders to ensure that all business requirements are captured.
- Assessing opportunities to identify all quantitative and qualitative benefits and costs of potential improvements, as well as associated risks.
- Working with business stakeholders and team members to clearly articulate proposed concepts and designs along with financial and business justifications.
- Bridging business concepts to higher detail requirements sufficient for development professionals to provide quotes and create detailed designs.
- Coordinating the bid and proposal process among development professionals.
- Developing workplans with associated resource needs, timing, funding, and supporting initiatives to deliver a solution.
- Overseeing and actively leading workstreams of assigned initiatives to ensure that work is performed in an Agile and safe-to-fail-fast manner that leads to optimized solutions for implementation.
- Supporting the work team in defining complex system integrations and associated logic and workflows to support the development of a to-be process.
- Operates office equipment: computer, scanner, printer, copier, fax, 10 Key, calculator, and phone.

Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Required Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- A background of progressively learning and growing skill set and knowledge that supports success in the role.
- Lean / Six-Sigma certification.
Required Experience:
- Multiple experiences of leading the design and development of medium to highly automated facilities for companies in a regulated environment.
- At least ten (10) years [fourteen (14) for non-degreed candidates] of experience in a senior level engineering role where essential experience and skills have developed.
- Working with local and state regulatory agencies as it relates to new facility buildout and start-up.
- Hands-on experience in either a distribution, manufacturing or high-volume pharmacy operation.
Preferred Experience:
- Pharmaceutical distribution and closed-door pharmacy design.
- Advanced systems integration.

Physical requirements
Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must have the ability to view a computer screen for long periods and the ability to sit for extended periods. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. The employee occasionally lifts up to 20 pounds and occasionally kneels and bends. Must have the ability to travel occasionally. Working condition include normal office setting.
