Full Job Description

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Dean of the School of Education (SOE), a successful applicant will work diligently to recruit and retain students from historically marginalized backgrounds to become teachers. This individual will facilitate activities that foster student engagement and success within the School of Education (SOE). Responsibilities include ensuring students’ sense of belonging and providing support from enrollment to graduation. This role involves frequent communication and connection with students, regular monitoring academic progress, and ongoing collaboration with faculty and other staff so support student success. Additionally, the individual drives the implementation of strategic initiatives related to historically marginalized education majors; secures grants to support historically marginalized students; and cultivates partnerships and other connections that will build community that support these students as they matriculate through their program of study.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or closely related field
  • Demonstrated leadership in efforts advocating for students across a wide range of experiences
  • Experience with identifying educational challenges and barriers for students
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents both internal and external to the community
  • Evidence of effective organization, communication skills and ability to build relationships
  • Valid driver’s license and transportation to get to and from recruitment events

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education or a closely related field
  • At least 3 years of experience as a PK-12 educator
  • Professional experience relevant to PK-12 schools and schooling
  • Experience with advising, recruitment, and/or retention in higher education
  • Demonstrated involvement with students, communities, and families across a broad range of experiences
  • Experience securing and managing grants
  • Prior experience and working knowledge of PeopleSoft, Navigate, Transferology
