A Brief Overview
Manages the operational functions of the Department of Security by leading, directing, and controlling daily events. Oversees scheduling and deployment of personnel to ensure adequate security coverage for the hospital campus. Trains and evaluates supervisors and officers in order to ensure optimum performance of assigned duties.
What you will do
- Oversees the daily operations of the Security Department.
- Maintains constant dialogue with shift supervisors.
- Evaluates scheduling and deployment of personnel.
- Makes maximum use of available departmental resources.
- Assists with coordination of the departmental hiring committee.
- Chairs the department hiring committee.
- Directs hiring committee members with a structured interview process for all supervisors and officers.
- Makes final recommendations on all hires.
- Directs time and attendance.
- Oversees bi-weekly payroll sheets for all full-time and part-time employees supervised.
- Updates attendance records and overtime statistics bi-weekly.
- Documents attendance issues in writing and reports related problem to the department head.
- Maintains departmental personnel files.
- Keeps departmental personnel files for all supervisors and officers.
- Records only those documents that are consistent with hospital policy.
- Purges departmental files of disciplinary actions consistent with policy reckoning periods.
- Drafts policies and procedures.
- Recommends new policies and procedures to reflect organizational changes and departmental need.
- Submits policy/procedure drafts to the Director.
- Reviews policy/procedure recommendations from subordinates.
- Evaluates performance of subordinates.
- Completes and submits annual performance appraisals for subordinates in a timely manner.
- Develops improvement plans for subordinates whenever a performance problem exists.
- Develops rewards and recognition program for good performance.
- Responds within twenty-four (24) hours of any complaints received.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED Required
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- At least five (5) years progressively responsible supervisory experience in specialized areas of law enforcement/corporate/hospital security. Required
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to operate a company vehicle and/or be insured on a CHOP policy. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to influence, direct, and guide others so as to gain their loyal cooperation in the accomplishments of an objective.
- Ability to develop ongoing training for new and existing staff.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations to include fractions and decimals.
- Ability to remain calm and poised with a high degree of emotion security, even under provocation.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Excellent oral and written skills a must.
Licenses and Certifications
- PA Act 235 - Pennsylvania State Police - upon hire - Required and
- Driver's License - Department of Motor Vehicles - upon hire - Required
