Description
Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is looking for a Scientist II, Immunology & Respiratory Disease Research, to develop and execute in vitro cellular assays to understand fundamental biology in stromal cells, innate, and adaptive immune cells. This will lead to identification and deeper understanding of new targets and mechanism of actions of drug candidates.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop in vitro assays using both primary cells and cell lines to enable identification and characterization of new targets and understanding of in vitro pharmacology of drug candidates.
- Perform mechanism of action studies using cell and molecular biology techniques to characterize novel drug targets.
- Conduct medium throughput phenotypic screens as needed.
- Basic in vitro cell biology skills to include technologies such as culturing primary cells, immune cell isolation, flow cytometry, ELISA, and immune cell-based assays that employ these techniques.
- Initiates and completes routine procedures in an independent and efficient manner, with minimal supervision.
- Independently operates and is responsible for lab equipment; Troubleshoots effectively.
- Demonstrates technical ability to assist in the design and execution of non-routine experiments with supervision.
- Applies basic scientific principles with minimal guidance; Performs literature searches and extracts relevant information from published protocols.
- Demonstrates the ability to interpret outcome of experiments and to propose appropriate follow-up.
- Communicates own work effectively orally and in writing; Contributes to writing protocols, procedures, and technical reports; provide input for scientific reports.
- Reports and treats data with a high level of integrity and ethics.
- Complies with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree with 3+ years experience in related scientific discipline or Masters Degree in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field
- Basic in vitro cell biology skills to include technologies such as culturing primary cells, immune cell isolation, flow cytometry, ELISA, and immune cell-based assays that employ these techniques.
- Experience with laboratory automation, data analysis and programming a plus.
- Able to draft portions of technical reports
- Concise and accurate reporting of technical data and information
- Ability to troubleshoot
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Appropriate level of understanding of applicable regulations
Compensation:
This position, Scientist II, offers a base salary typically between$75,000.00 and $147,000.00. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements.For an overview of our benefits please click here.Eligibility Requirements
