Responsibilities

Are you ready to embark on an exciting journey with the Health Insurance Data team? We are seeking passionate individuals to join us in developing cutting-edge data products that will revolutionize our support for business partners. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to modernize and transform health data processes, explore and leverage the vast array of health data assets, and create innovative data solutions using the latest AWS technologies.

The mission of the Health Data Team is the support we provide our Health Actuarial partners. Your expertise in data and analytics will be crucial in delivering meaningful insights that facilitate strategic decision-making. Your day-to-day activities will be diverse and dynamic as you respond to the evolving needs of our customers and contribute to our transformational efforts.

In this role, day-to-day activities will vary based on the needs of your customers and our transformational efforts. Broadly, your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Maintain mainframe ETL functions in SAS, while also supporting migration of data and processes to cloud
  • Maintain Health insurance data assets needed to fulfill requests from stakeholders
  • Support data stewardship by ensuring data quality and appropriate data infrastructure to allow for compliance and data integrity
  • Develop, enhance, and own ETL processes for Health data
  • Consult, support, and work directly with business partners upstream (e.g., Enterprise Technology) and downstream (e.g., Health Actuarial)
  • Collaborate with State Farm associates in various roles to document, develop and deliver data products needed by stakeholders
  • Write data queries and perform reporting/analytics supporting business partners as needed

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • SAS programming experience a must
  • Data governance knowledge and PHI data compliance
  • Advanced data skills – experience working with data to perform ETL tasks
  • Source code management knowledge, Git/GitLab preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work with data sources in a variety of formats
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field

Preferred Skills:

  • Track record of improving/innovating business processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to create clear technical documentation and knowledge-based solutions
  • Knowledge of AWS enabled tools (Glue, Athena, Sagemaker, Quicksight, Pyspark)
