As an R&D Engineer, you'll lead and participate in the conceptualization, design and field testing phase of research, and technology development.

As an R&D Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and refine a purpose-built 3D computational modeling framework for simulating and predicting drill bit behavior in 3D under various drilling operational conditions.

  • Capture the model requirements, system level requirements through brainstorming with Engineers, Product Managers, Software Architects.

  • Validate and refine the models with lab or field data, particular focus on steady state forces and performance, dynamic responses, vibration mitigation, and directional control.

  • Assess the engineering application performance, troubleshooting and optimizing/improving it through design, suitable programming language and best coding practices. Support ongoing operations with urgency.

  • Write computational modeling and programming code that #1 solves problems, and have the willingness to solve any problem. It needs to be reusable, scalable, follow company best practices and needs to work within the existing application infrastructure.

  • Prepare technical reports and presentations on findings and recommendations

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in numerical methods for 3D vector calculus, geometry, drilling technology, wear performance, dynamics, and programming techniques.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, physics, aerospace engineering, computational engineering, or related science and engineering majors or advanced degree in related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing custom-built computational mechanical simulations for 3D motion, dynamics.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience developing mechanical, computational simulations into production engineering software applications with the best programing language

  • Preference will be giving to candidates that have drilling dynamics and rock mechanics experience

  • Experience with C++, .NET programming, Cloud Experience (Azure, AWS), databases such as MS SQL, Containerized solutions (Docker)is preferred
