Position Description

Job Summary

The CertainTeed Platform group at SGR North America is searching for a talented entry level researcher to join their team. This role is within the Engineering Performance Team of CertainTeed Platforms, whose purpose focuses on product and process development from stages 2/3 to 4/5 per Saint-Gobain's Stage Gate process. While our Solutions Development Team works with customers to iterate through and improve upon product prototypes in stages 1/2, the scale up and industrialization of these products will be the focus role of the incumbent.

This New Product Development cycle would involve product (re)design for manufacturing, process design and optimization, failure and data analyses, cross-functional internal/external collaborations, intellectual property development, and project management. The research fields include new construction materials and innovative construction methods and processes.

Responsibilities

• Manufacturing scale up activities including, test protocol development, prototyping, failure, and statistical data analyses, (re)design for manufacturing, process design and optimization, scale up, and industrialization design.
• Research and development around innovative construction materials (increasing buildings' energy performance with more sustainable materials) and manufacturing processes (such as factory-build or off-site construction with increased overall productivity).
• Project management, technical report documentation and updates, cross-functional communication & collaboration, making presentations at all levels, and filing intellectual property.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, OR other related Science and Engineering disciplines.
• Co-op, Intern, or rotational manufacturing experience in new product and process development, prototype to pilot build, manufacturing is a plus.
