Job Summary

The Social Care in Chronic Disease Collaborative is seeking a skilled and highly motivated individual to serve as a Research Associate across multiple projects providing technical support. Projects include pilots, intervention studies, and large-scale evaluation projects focused on addressing chronic disease management, unmet social determinants of health, and financial burden with healthcare. The Research Associate will work in a team with 5 other staff. The research associate will help ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data organizing activities, conduct extremely detail oriented tracking of project tasks, participate in project meetings, and help manage additional administrative tasks. The research associate will join a team who will train and work closely with them. There will be opportunities for the research associate to take on other responsibilities and use/learn additional skills (such as data management, manuscript preparation, study creation, public speaking and presenting, etc.) based on interest and availability.

About Social Care in Chronic Disease Collaborative: Established in 2019, the Social Care in Chronic Disease Collaborative's mission is to advance the science on addressing social context in chronic disease management. The collaborative engages in interdisciplinary research and evaluation, working to translate research and innovations into clinical and public health practice and policy advancement.

About the Department: The position will be based in the Department of Health Behavior & Health Equity. Driven by a shared passion for affecting lasting change, the faculty, students and staff of HBHE work in the pursuit of an equitable, healthy future for all. Turning theory and research into actionable practice, we develop interventions and innovations that promote health, prevent disease, and empower people to manage chronic illness and disabilities. Together, our academic community transforms the theoretical into actionable, the science into the social, applying our knowledge to eliminate health disparities and impact lives for the better.

Responsibilities*

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Data organizing and presenting
  • Finding qualified secondary data sources
  • Create an internal database and organizational method for data reviews
  • Maintain accurate documentation of review progress and results
  • Maintain a high level of organization
  • Scheduling meetings 
  • Tracking of various stakeholders needs and deadlines 
  • A broad range of evaluation tasks
  • Other study-related tasks as needed

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, Master preferred. 1-3 years-related experience required. 
  • Demonstrated skills of being detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage projects independently and support team efforts
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and strong work ethic

Desired Qualifications*

  • Prior research and data work experience 
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft suite platform

Work Schedule

40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, Days

Work Locations

  • School of Public Health Building 1, 1415 Washington Heights, Ann Arbor, MI
  • We are currently using a hybrid work model. While there is flexibility in working from home, staff is asked to come into the office during the week when possible.

Modes of Work
