Full Job Description

Job Summary

The Department of Recreational Services is seeking student staff to supervise the Recreation Center for the winter semester.  Students will be responsible for helping create a welcoming and safe environment, and must have prior experience working in a recreation facility.  Shifts may be days or evenings, weekdays or weekends, depending on availability.  

Responsibilities*

  • Supervise the Recreation Center daily operations, including providing quality customer service to students and patrons
  • Provide for safety, security, and cleanliness of the facility
  • Set up and break down spaces for programs and special events
  • Be knowledgeable on policies and procedures while supervising facility operations student staff
  • Respond to emergencies and provide first aid when necessary

Required Qualifications*

  • Current UM-Flint student
  • Current UM-Flint Recreational Services employee, or equivalent experience working in a recreation facility
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds n occasion
  • Current, or ability to obtain, CPR/AED/First Aid certification

Desired Qualifications*

Work study award for upcoming academic semester

Modes of Work

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence.  Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan
