Job Description:
This role is for a Production Manager at our clients Manufacturing Site in Joliet, IL! This will be a permanent full time position with a 7:00am-4:00pm schedule, Monday-Friday. If you are interested, please apply and we will reach out right away!
The Joliet Production Manager is responsible for all metrics of safety, quality, production, cost, productivity, and people development and engagement for several production areas across all shifts. This person displays ownership mentality to keep equipment healthy through a Total Productive Maintenance culture (TPM) and tool utilization and to develop and engage the production associates and area-level leadership through High-Performing Organization (HPO) methodologies to do the same. This person shall act as the single point of contact for activities and work in the Department. This person will analyze losses, develop strategic plans, and coach teams to improve these metrics through developing standards, work processes, staffing strategies, and maintenance strategies in a PDCA methodology. This person serves as liaison to interface with support Departments and report results through daily operational meetings. The Production Manager will directly lead the Department, including a team of Production Area Leaders and Production Team Leaders, and all hourly employees for the designated Department to make chemical products in this ISO 9000 certified facility. You will also lead production engineers and a maintenance planner with a dotted line reporting structure to you. You will interact with Divisional Business Leaders, Global Supply Chain functional leaders, and peers on the Site Leadership Team to continuously improve and develop the processes in chemical manufacturing: Engagement, Safety, Quality, Planning, Procurement and Distribution.
What You Will Do:
- Ensure safe work practices at all times
- Create a healthy employee relations climate. Support a team-based environment with engagement and communication at the forefront
- Create/improve Autonomous Maintenance standards
- Create staffing strategies to optimize the Operation
- Improve new Team Member onboarding materials and processes
- Set Clear Team Goals & continuously coach Team Members
- Monitor key metrics and use loss analysis to drive improvement projects
- Support continuous improvement through building the capability of Team Members and executing projects
- Oversee Department maintenance strategies
- Establish strong relationships with other key Departments: Safety, Quality, Engineering, etc.
- Expand and grow personal capability
- Embody the clients Leadership Model
- Budget ownership for the Department
- Manage Employee Performance, Development and Qualification plans for the Department
- Inspire your manufacturing team as you embrace TPM practices and use your ability to listen and communicate transparently to encourage every single person to think and act proactively to make changes that will save time and reduce manufacturing waste.
- Promote full team engagement and witness their ability to achieve continuous improvement of throughput in chemical production to reduce product cost per kilogram.
- Join cross-functional team efforts to effectively launch new FDA products / lines
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5+ years’ manufacturing experience
- 2+ years’ manufacturing direct-line leadership (supervisory) experience
- 1+ years’ experience in at least 2 operations functional areas, e.g., Production, Distribution, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Compliance or HR
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferably in an engineering related field
- TPM Experience
- 2+ years’ experience applying TPM / Toyota Production Principals in a Manufacturing environment
- 3+ years’ experience in consumer products industry; regulated production, ISO 9001, RD&E or related
- Knowledge of Supply Chain financial measurements of Operational, Capital Management experience
- Extensive experience using MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), ERP and other relevant computer software and systems effectively
