Full Job Description

HYBRID ELIGIBILITY

This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Minot, ND. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Analysis and Optimization:

  • Utilize Exception Based Surveillance (EBS) tools and well modeling to monitor and analyze well performance.
  • Develop and implement strategies for production optimization and expense reduction.

Artificial Lift Design and Reliability:

  • Design artificial lift systems tailored to maturing field conditions.
  • Collaborate with Reliability Engineers to enhance artificial lift equipment standards, balancing performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Field Operations Area Support:

  • Work closely with Area Leads, Operators, and Process Specialists to support area priorities in production availability, flow assurance, integrity, and reliability.
  • Lead 5-Why Problem Solving to develop long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes.

Well Intervention and Workovers:

  • Develop procedures for well interventions and major workovers, including cleanouts, artificial lift changes, and restimulation efforts.
  • Perform economic analysis to evaluate the feasibility and benefits of interventions.
  • Prepare cost estimates and Authorizations for Expenditure (AFEs) to obtain work approval.

Frac Interference Management:

  • Oversee frac interference management, including pre-frac preparation, post-frac remediation, and well protection strategies.

Budgeting and Cost Management:

  • Assist in preparing capital (CAPEX) and operating cost (OPEX) budgets for artificial lift and subsurface maintenance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure budgets align with field and corporate objectives.
  • Foster strong partnerships with key service providers, driving continuous improvement and cost efficiency.

Plug and Abandonment (P&A):

  • Identify candidates for Plug and Abandonment based on economic and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the Management of Change (MOC) process to secure internal approvals.

Knowledge Sharing:

  • Actively participate in engineering networks to share lessons learned and promote best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience & Skills
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Production Engineering and/or oil & gas field related engineering/operations role
  • Knowledge of Artificial Lift systems (rod pump,ESP, and gas lift), Production optimization, and Production Chemistry/Flow Assurance
  • Proficient computer skills (nodal analysis, Microsoft Office, SAP, Wellview, Spotfire)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills with attention to detail and process improvements
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision in a diverse, multidiscipline team environment

Education, Training & Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required, Petroleum Engineering is preferred.
