We are currently looking for a Pipeline Technician to join our team in Olathe, KS. This position is responsible for the day-to-day natural gas operations to optimize throughput, while also ensuring safety for the public, employees, assets, and the environment. Our ideal candidate will be organized, detailed, and a disciplined self-starter who can work cohesively towards the team objectives.
Essential Functions
- Conducting regular inspections of pipelines and valves to ensure optimal operation and to identify any potential issues.
- Performing maintenance tasks such as replacing parts, fixing leaks, and applying corrosion protection measures to prolong the lifespan of pipeline systems.
- Implementing and upholding safety protocols to prevent incidents, including environmental hazards.
- Work on high pressure natural gas pipelines.
- Complete line locates and meet with landowners in coverage areas.
- Assist with pipeline operations including pigging, valve maintenance, and other pipeline duties.
- Coordinating with other team members and departments to facilitate efficient communication regarding pipeline operations and maintenance.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs for regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
Other Functions
- Inspect pipeline infrastructure to keep pipelines running smoothly and safely.
- Monitor pipeline performance to ensure safe operation, loss prevention, and environmental protection.
- Complete other duties and responsibilities as reasonably assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- The ability to gain knowledge of pipeline and compressor station operations.
- The ability to gain knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high-pressure systems.
- The ability to gain knowledge of gas measurement.
- Ability to obtain and maintain all certifications for Operator Qualifications, Safety, and any other regulatory requirements.
- Basic knowledge of minor mechanical tools and repairs.
- Intermediate verbal and written communications skills.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals).
- Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and industry related software.
- Knowledge of operating costs associated with the equipment in area of responsibility.
- The ability to gain knowledge and stay abreast of company policies, company practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure are critical traits for success in this role.
Education, Certifications, License
- Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Requires a valid Driver's License.
- Active CDL, preferred.
Work Experience
- Experience using power tools, preferred.
- Experience hooking up and driving hauling trailers, preferred.
