Job Summary:
This position is for an ambulatory clinical pharmacist with our Enhanced Care Team (ECT) Pharmacy services.
The clinic-embedded pharmacists and technicians serving on the ECT Pharmacy teams act as a valuable resource to support an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to offer comprehensive team-based care for patients in primary care and family medicine clinic settings.
Primary role does not currently include compounding or medication dispensing responsibilities. ECT Pharmacy Clinical Pharmacists will support North and Central Texas primary care clinics, as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer consultations to the Nursing and Medical Staff regarding medications, orders, in-depth pharmaceutical information, and potential patient reactions.
- Address any issues or concerns related to medications, including access, errors, complaints, and inquiries from patients or their caregivers.
- Assist the assigned clinic team(s) (comprising Physicians, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Community Health Workers, and Health Care Coordinators) by answering medication-related questions and presenting medication education topics. These presentations may be given by the pharmacist or pharmacy residents.
- Supervise and oversee the non-clinical tasks performed by pharmacy technicians.
- Actively engages in the education and mentorship of pharmacy residents and students, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.
- Coordinates and develops workflows related to medication focus measure outreach. Serves as the primary contact for contracted payers concerning focus measures. Diligently reports outreach results to both payers and respective department heads.
- Proactively enhances performance on Medication Adherence Measures by actively engaging patients and offering targeted medication education, ensuring their understanding and compliance.
Supervises and monitors the non-professional duties of Pharmacy Technicians including the organization of daily duties in dispensing, IVs or patients care function.
Monitors and reviews the work of Pharmacy Technicians to ensure compliance with all professional standards and departmental policies and procedures, and to ensure pharmacy stock levels are adequate with patient needs.
Assists in inventory, purchasing and quality control of drugs and products and ensures proper charging/crediting of pharmacy product accounts.
Consistently maintains inventory and records on narcotics and other drugs as required by law.

Expert understanding of Pharmacy Care modalities, pharmaceutical calculations, therapies, terminology, drug use and aseptic techniques, standards, medications and equipment.
