Job Summary
This role will oversee B Shift: typical working hours are Monday-Friday, B Shift (2:45 to 11:00 PM), with some after-hours accessibility.
The Role - What's the job?
Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Operations Supervisor will supervise and direct shift activities to ensure safe and compliant operations, while achieving quality, service, and productivity targets. This position is critical in communicating with the front-line employees, ensuring they are informed of all plant information, changes, and updates in a timely manner. In addition, the incumbent will assist in identifying and implementing process improvement programs to that give the Polymer Shakes Plant a cost advantage over the competition.
- Develops and cultivates a team-oriented "working safely" culture throughout the plant with a focus on zero injuries, work-related health conditions, and/or spills. Is responsible to ensure employees and operations are in compliance with all EHS standards, including active participation in behavior-based safety reporting and programs; preventive audits/programs; and 6S efforts and initiatives.
- Responsible for all aspects related to production efficiencies, including first pass yield, up-time, throughput, pack rates, cycle time, scrap rates, and regrind re-use.
- Manages and cultivates a culture that has an unrelenting commitment to quality, ensuring compliance with all quality standards. Provides leadership for technical and quality teams for consensus to resolve quality issues, understanding and teaching the impact that decisions have on parts quality.
- Leads, coaches, and manages a team of technical support and machine attendants, developing a team-oriented focus and mindset. Strives to develop a bottom-up approach to resolve issues and gain buy-in. Creates and implements succession plans to ensure business stability and individual development.
Required Qualifications
Requirements - What do you bring?
- Education - Bachelor's degree preferred with degree in Manufacturing, Business, or similar field.
- 5-8 years progressive work experience in a manufacturing environment or related internships in a manufacturing environment.
- 3-5 years demonstrated supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated technical aptitude.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic to intermediate technical issues; good quantitative/analytical skills; critical and independent thinking.
- Understanding to plastic materials, processing, and equipment knowledge.
- Good change management skills; some project management experience.
- Good coaching skills; peer, up-line, direct, and indirect reports.
- Ability to assess and develop people, hold individuals and team accountable, in accordance with department and individual objectives, resulting in a strong safety, environmental, employee relations, and operational performance.
