McGuireWoods has the need for a Brand Communications Manager to join its firm-wide marketing team in Richmond, VA. The Brand Communications Manager is a creative storyteller who generates ideas and delivers targeted, business-oriented campaigns with a high degree of strategic impact to support the firm's marketing and business development objectives. The Brand Communications Manager develops firm messages across channels and creates complete marketing campaigns to elevate the brand, including attorney biographies; advertising copy; videos and podcasts; intranet, website and microsite articles; social media; press releases; practice and office descriptions; nominations and survey submissions; and other firm communications. The manager also has extensive PR experience, working with the press to coordinate coverage and generate earned media opportunities.

Responsibilities:- Effectively manages the tone and voice of the firm's brand.
- Works with a variety of teams and identifies/develops content series that showcases the work, people and culture of the firm.
- Understands social platforms, tools and trends.
- Plans and researches business goals and finds the stories that help showcase/support them in an engaging way.
- Develops and tells authentic stories in an engaging and relatable way; conceives of and executes/creates content.
- Has famiarty with publishing, content management and analytics/listening tools.
- Recommends ways to tailor content and delivery channels based on intended audience.
- Exercises sound judgment in serving as an adviser for lawyers and other professionals who seek editorial guidance.
- Reviews marketing and communications materials and ensures compliance to firm standards of quality, firm policies and guidelines, and basics of good writing, including grammar, spelling, content flow, and adherence to Associated Press Stylebook.
- Vets copy for redundancies, inconsistencies, potential conflicts.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or related field.
- At least 12 years' experience in legal marketing/communications, journalism or other professional services capacity (law firm experience preferred).
- Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills along with a strong attention to detail.
- Experience generating video and podcast content.
- Strong knowledge of current affairs in the legal industry.
- Ability to build relationships with a wide range of people, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to travel when required.
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
- Understanding of overall goals and objectives of McGuireWoods marketing efforts and how they fit into the firm's overall long-term success.
