Definition: Under general supervision of the Maintenance Superintendent, supervises the activities of maintenance crew and is responsible for performing other duties as assigned to ensure proper maintenance of irrigation system facilities.
Examples of Duties: (1) oversees the daily activities and hours worked by maintenance crew; (2) works closely and effectively with CCID consumers to solve consumer related problems and develop consumer projects; (3) supervises and evaluates subordinate personnel (4) provides data requested by Office, Engineering and Water Departments; and (5) other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of: Principles of irrigation distribution systems; principles and techniques of supervision and training; mechanical and maintenance principles of irrigation canals, headgates, turnouts, diversion, pipelines, and related facilities; and safe work practices.
Ability To: Work independently and cooperatively with others; effectively manage personnel; utilize the techniques, tools and equipment used in irrigation system maintenance; develop and implement maintenance programs and schedules; help plan supervise and coordinate the work of others; read and write at the level required for successful job performance; prepare written and oral reports; and manual labor including: shoveling pulling aquatic weeds by hand, hoeing, sawing lumber using hand saws, kneeling, stooping, crawling, thrusting, dislodging boards from weir structures using 100 lbs. of lifting force, and wading and working in irrigation facilities which contain water.
License: Possession of an appropriate California Driver's license issued by the state Department of Motor Vehicles.
Employment Experience: any combination equivalent to four years experience in the construction and maintenance of irrigation ditches, canals and pipelines.
Pay Range: Pay range is a 5-step schedule starting at $29.42 per hour to $35.53 per hour
