The Junior Packaging Designer is an integral member of a cross-functional team who delivers trend forward brand packaging solutions, enabling the businesses and brands to evolve across our global divisions. As the creative force responsible for driving the development of all packaging and branding across selected categories, you will oversee supplier relationships to ensure the packaging quality and deadlines are met. Partners in collaboration with Product Development and Buyers in identifying and creating successful brand packaging. You will direct team members, freelancers, and contractors in the design, content and execution of trend-right branding solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the creation of trend forward brand packaging across various home categories.
- Partners with product development and merchandising to fill lifestyle needs by product category. Influences the organization on design decisions.
- Partners with the Sr. Product Development Managers, Trend Teams and Divisional Manager to create compelling brand packaging
- Ensures the quality of the vendor's packaging through an established approval process and ensures all deadlines are met.
- Creates and directs brand packaging for a wide variety of products (boxes, hangtags, labels, etc).
- Prioritizes and directs designers, freelancers, interns and/or contractors in design and content creation.
- Follow-through from conception to shelf - providing approvals and overseeing successful execution of all components before press and delivery. Communicate with product development and regulatory teams throughout the design process, including reviewing and proofing packaging.
- Maintains a strict adherence to T&A and deadlines. Establishes parameters of acceptable tolerances in print/color/construction while developing and implementing methods to improve efficiencies.
- Manages the photography and photography requirements for packages. Directs styling, ensures photo quality, content, and that timeline requirements are met.
- Partners with legal and trademark administrator in researching new brand names, and ensures all legal/trademark requirements are met.
- Performs special projects as assigned.
Skills/Requirements:
- BFA or related degree in design preferred
- A minimum of 2-3 years design related experience
- Proven results managing multi-disciplinary design teams or designers
- Demonstrated experience guiding business stakeholders through the design process, delivering vision and adhering to brand integrity
- Ability to think across multiple platforms including product, merchandising and new forms of brand communication
- Management experience to influence, drive change and drive vision is required
- In depth knowledge of design and cultural trends to develop cohesive design solutions
- Excellent sense of color, type and style
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects and works well under pressure
- Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign) as well as supporting office programs
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $26.27 to $29.19 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
