Michaelsis looking for Construction Interns who are ready to apply their course-work to a real-world experience! The interns will assist the Construction department with a wide-range of responsibilities during our program. The internship will appeal to proactive and self-motivated students with a genuine desire to learn about the real estate business and industry. During the program, they will work on real projects and have real responsibilities. Michaels aims to help candidates build strengths, gain skills that can be transferred to any workplace, and stand out from the crowd!

Responsibilities

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday from 9 AM - 5 PM for a total of 35 hours
  • Based out of our Camden, NJ headquarters

Highlights of the Internship include:

  • Work alongside other interns across various majors and universities
  • Learn from our more experienced team members and best-in-class leaders in the real estate community
  • Participate in company-wide and departmental meeting and events and a variety of social, professional and networking opportunities.

During this internship you will have the opportunity to rotate through various departments within our construction department. This will include estimating and project management. The Construction Co-ops will be involved in plan and specification review. They will assist in subcontractor scope formation and buyout and contracting. They will be exposed to the submittal process and review as well as project schedule updates. They will assist in project safety audits and change order creation. They will help process subcontractor and vendor invoice and perform periodic inspections of projects.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Hard working, willingness to learn
  • Engineering/Construction Management majors preferred
  • Experience in Excel & Word and strong computer skills
  • Understanding of how to read drawings/blueprints
  • Ability to work a minimum of 35 hours per week during the school year
