Your Role: As an Insurance Product Manager of Property Strategy & Development you will manage product development and pricing for existing or new insurance products. Cross-functionally direct new product design and development, underwriting strategy and execution, catastrophe management, policy contracts and forms, system enhancements and regulatory changes, competitive insights, pricing segmentation, sales and marketing strategies, and overall project management. Responsible for the seamless market execution and profitable growth of our countrywide products.

Your work:

Product Strategy & Development

  • Provides thought leadership on complex or strategic product development efforts with high value or high potential products and leads associated projects.

  • Develops methodology and initiates changes to policies and guidelines which may affect budgets, workforce needs, profitability, and policy/premium growth.

  • Develops new products based on knowledge of products, consumers and competition, partnering with Marketing, Sales, Legal and State Product Management where appropriate.

Product Management

  • Acts as resource and expert on core technical aspects of a line of business and/or the tools and techniques of Product Management.

  • Monitors product performance by mix including metrics such as quotes, close ratios, retention, loss ratios, etc. and develops solutions to address any opportunities.

  • Partners with Analytics teams to develop reporting and conduct analysis.

  • Partners with Actuarial to develop and execute pricing model refreshes. Approves pricing structure and changes.

Competitive Intelligence

  • Reviews competitive environment and understands market dynamics for multiple products, states, and or markets.

  • Conducts competitive analysis as needed for projects and proposals.

Business Requirements and IT Partnership

  • Develops and documents product specifications or high-level business requirements that account for all policy lifecycles (e.g., quote, bind, renew) and partners with IT to expand these into acceptance criteria

  • Manages and helps resolve defects related to owned products/projects and develops and needed interim procedures.

Market Execution

  • Leads all steps needed to ensure acceptance and adoption of new products/enhancements in market, partnering closely with Change Management, State Product Management and Sales.

  • Partners to develop or modify processes and procedures for Sales, Service, Claims, and any other impacted areas of the business.

  • Makes final decisions on administrative, strategic or operational matters and ensures effective achievement of objectives.

Presentation

  • Transforms complex concepts into compelling stories that can inspire a broad audience from frontline sales and service agents to executive leadership.

  • Builds visually compelling presentations and tailors them to the audience and venue (virtual vs. in-person).

Required Experience, Education and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in related area (Marketing, business, or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 10+ years of increasingly responsible product management experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of product and project management, product profitability, sales and strategic planning

  • Excellent financial analysis and reporting skills

  • Ability and skills to lead cross functional teams

  • Strategic, organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in product analysis, principles and methods

  • Business and technical writing skills (e.g. proposals, PowerPoint presentation, business requirements, Microsoft project, Suite Microsoft Office)

  • Project Management techniques and processes experience

  • Highly skilled negotiator

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Understanding of business systems and processes and how they link together

  • Ability to create prototypes or workflows to enable gathering rich feedback from business stakeholders

  • Experience developing business requirements that contemplate all policy lifecycles (quote, bind, renew, etc.)

The national average salary range for this position is $136,000-$152,000. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full salary range for this position across all the states we hire in is $123,000 -$182,000 This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 15% of eligible pay.
