The Head, Medical Affairs and Evidence Generation (MA&EG) Strategy and Planning is a pivotal role that will drive strategic and operational success of the MA&EG organization. The individual will serve as a key business partner and trusted advisor to the Global Head of MA&EG and the MA&EG Community Leadership Team. This individual will help co-create and drive strategy for the vision, goals, roadmap, and other relevant deliverables across MA&EG. This individual will act as a critical integration point within Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Commercial, Clinical and Development and will be responsible for the operational aspects of the MA&EG Community. The Head of MA&EG will also manage a team of individuals who will work across geographies and teams to enable the organization to achieve our goals.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Strategic Support
Serve as a strategic and operational partner to the Global Head of Medical Affairs and Evidence Generation, facilitating communication, providing project oversight and decision making in support of short-term goals and long-term objectives
Co-create and help drive MA&EG strategies that align with and help accelerate achievement of argenx Vision 2030 with the expansion of our investment across indications, molecules, and patient impact
Act as a liaison between the Global Head of Medical Affairs and Evidence Generation and executives, argenx communities and stakeholders within country and globally to ensure effective communication and alignment
Support the build out of the medical affairs and evidence generation infrastructure critical to supporting all relevant activities including launch needs by collaboratively defining gaps, targets, governance, tools, and roles and responsibilities within and across teams
Drive strategy for and development of various presentations as a member of the MA&EG Leadership Team to be delivered in various forums such as Town Halls, Senior Management and Board of Directors reviews, Commercial Leadership Team meetings, etc that enable MA&EG to speak with one voice and communicate our contributions
Work across the organization to identify points of connection and areas for collaboration between with MA&EG and propose solutions when opportunities have been identified
Monitor and report on the performance of key initiatives and annual plans, adjusting strategy based on measurable outcomes
Provide leadership and coaching to team of MA&EG Program Managers, regularly assess business needs to support a talent flow model so that team members work on prioritized projects, and conduct ongoing workload assessments
Operational Excellence
Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the MA&EG Community, ensuring deadlines and milestones are met
Partner with Clinical Science, Research & Development and the Commercial Community to ensure alignment on organizational plans and activities
Lead MA&EG goal setting process and track progress, results, budget, and performance against these goals, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and fiscal responsibility that support goal achievement
Plan and implement meetings, workshops, agendas, content, archiving, and actions to maximize team effectiveness and ensure optimal value is created
Special Projects
Own special projects which can include serving as the MA&EG contributor to cross-functional initiatives from early planning through to implementation
Oversee cross-functional collaboration on new initiatives such as the introduction of new therapies
Address and resolve gaps which may arise within the MA&EG organization as well as within the broader organization as we continue to build out MA&EG and scale for success
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within medical affairs to optimize efficiency and effectiveness across teams
Desired Skills and Experience:
Prior Medical Affairs Strategy and Planning experience is preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with and influence a diverse group of stakeholders. Experience preparing, adapting and delivering presentations

Education and Qualifications:
Advance Degree (MBA. MD, PhD, MS, PharmD etc) is required
Minimum 10 years in a leadership role with at least 5 years of relevant pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry experience within medical affairs or related functions
Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale, cross-functional projects with experience in strategic planning, execution, and budgeting
Strong understanding of clinical development process and lifecycle management
Able to rapidly master various computer systems, portfolio and project management tools and reports
Prior experience in working with large teams and across time zones
Ability to travel 30-40% of the time as needed (domestic and global) with the ability to spend some time in the Boston and Gent offices
