Full Job Description

Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for designing and integrating IoT technologies into material handling equipment. Development of new sensors, enhancement of existing hardware, and systems integration are daily activities involved with this role. The ideal candidate will be capable of conducting research and completing designs while also working across teams to ensure the highest quality designs. To be successful you must be able to operate in a small but highly skilled and dedicated team taking on direct development responsibility for components through the full design and development cycle.

This hybrid role requires a significant commitment to onsite activities, meaning relocation would be necessary, but the team remains flexible to promote a good work/life balance

Essential Duties:

  • Design components using new technologies for IoT telematics systems.
  • Lead innovation by conducting feasibility studies on new features and technology.
  • Interpret product requirements to develop functional specifications and system requirements.
  • Author specifications documentation to component suppliers.
  • Participate in wire harness design reviews to ensure hardware compatibility with system design and layout.
  • Create and update documentation including design detail, DFMEA, DVP&R, test plans, test/calibration procedures, product manuals and other technical documents.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software components of controllers and other electronic devices related to OEM forklifts
  • Participate in technical discussions with suppliers (Internal/external) on issues and resolutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, cost, quality and delivery of new products.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors in Electrical/ Electrical & Computer engineering or related required
  • 5+ years of full time Electrical Systems Engineering experience required
  • Good knowledge of electronics design, including PCB and circuit design required
  • Foundational knowledge of programming languages such as C and C++ required
  • Proficient in system integration interface tools (CANalyzer, CANape, CANbus etc) desired
  • Understanding of serial communication, vehicle dynamics, controller hardware and software required
  • Skilled with DMM, oscilloscope, power supplies and other similar diagnostic equipment required
  • Excellent communication skills and desire to work with team.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and multi-tasker.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and works effectively with cross-cultural teams.

Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 25 pounds for files, computer printouts on occasion. Frequent use of computer and telephone. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
