Purpose of the Position:
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Student Support Services , the Director of Health Services Administration is responsible for the strategic leadership and management of health services, case management, and health/wellness education for the diverse needs of musicians, dancers, and actors.
Oversees all operational, financial, and administrative functions of case management, health education, and on-campus health services. In doing so, maintains and creates a seamless system of education, prevention, intervention and referrals for students.
Collaborates with campus partners, students, and other stakeholders to bring programs promoting holistic student health and wellness, including mental health, preventive care, and health education.
Advises senior and executive leadership on public health emergency response planning and implementation.
Supervises: Senior Case Manager and Associate Director, Student Wellness Promotion and Services.
Essential Functions of the Position
Serve as a primary liaison to the Tufts Medical Center Team to ensure accurate, timely, accessible information and health services on and off campus.
Maintains working knowledge and best practices on public health infectious disease prevention/intervention, epidemiology, primary/urgent care, vaccination/flu clinics.
Provides administrative and operational oversight of the on-campus nurse clinic and other contracted services co-located in the clinic (e.g., physical therapy, massage therapy, sport medicine).
Partners with and coordinates with the Collegiate Center for Wellness on the Tufts Medical Center campus.
Serves on the Health and Wellness leadership team.
Remains abreast of campus trends, scholarly literature, and best practices to inform and develop services, resources, and programming with an emphasis on holistic wellness.
Directs data collection and analysis initiatives, such as the National Collegiate Health Assessment; the JED Campus Partnership strategic plan; and utilization and satisfaction data to inform all aspects student wellness promotion and services.
Chairs weekly CARES team and collaborates closely with campus partners, particularly leads within the Berklee Bridge.
Assists the Assistant VP, Student Support Services in managing elevated or critical student incidents; post-hospitalization follow-up meetings and coordination of care.
Sets budget priorities for the fiscal year and manages departmental cost centers.
Develops, implements and oversees systems and capacity to accommodate all state required and/or recommended vaccinations. Serves as liaison/lead on bringing forward health concerns that may impact the campus community.
Oversees and administers vendor contracts with immunization compliance service, physical therapy services, and other campus wellness providers.
Lead, manage and coordinate College response to localized public health concerns (e.g., measles outbreak) that occur on-campus or with off-campus residents, in collaboration with MA DPH, Tufts, Public Safety, Housing and Residential Life, Communications team.
Refine and develop as needed public health guidance to be compliant with CDC, MA DPH and/or American College Health Association guidelines. Use these resources to refine, adapt, and/or recommend policies to maintain the safest campus possible.
Network and connect with colleges and universities in the area to stay abreast of their activities and look for ways to partner/coordinate. Attend The Boston Consortium health services director regular meetings.
Oversee SHIP program in compliance with Mass regulations; manage relationship with SHIP administrator/broker; oversee all aspects of communication with students and families.
Must be available and able to respond on evenings and weekends as needed.
Qualifications/Skills:
Master’s degree required Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Public Health, Health Sciences or related fields.
Demonstrated leadership in public health, health education, health care and/or medical settings.
Excellent crisis management skills for individuals in distress.
KSA’s in health informatics, healthcare related EMS/platforms, and data planning/analysis.
Demonstrated ability to create solutions to complex problems.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience making decisions based upon collaboration.
Focused ability to drive results and passion for follow-up.
Demonstrated leadership in building efficient, accessible processes.
Strong decision-making skills.
Supervisory experience.
Exceptions organizations skills; ability to handle confidential, sensitive information
Preferences:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in health services administration, preferably in a college or university setting.
Experience working with college musicians, actors, dancers or students engaged in competitive, performance based curriculum or activities.
Execute and lead decision-making processes.
Successful track record of presenting and influencing organizational cultures.
