We are seeking a skilled and experienced engineer to join our AI&D group. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines to build data products. You will provide clean transformed data to support our data-driven initiatives by building transformation pipelines that adhere to software engineering best-practice standards. You'llbe an instrumental member of the Analytics Data Engineering team, part of the wider AI & D group.
What You'll Do:
- Design, build and maintain highly functional, simple, scalable and sustainable data products.
- Design, build and maintain scalable data transformations.
- Create data pipelines toprovide clean transformed data for data science/analytics use cases.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
- Partner with data scientists, and stakeholders to help explore, analyze, and source data from our strategic sources.
- Implement data models and structures to support data products and analytical tools.
- Optimize and tune data pipelines for performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Ensure data quality and integrity through thorough testing.
- Maintain best practices in development, testing and version control.
- Review code changes and approve pull requests (PRs) in Git
- Convert requirements into Jira stories and provide milestones.
- Partner with stakeholders regarding data quality, availability, and value of data
- Collaborate with data stewards throughout NYL.
- Build strong relationships with Technology (IT) and business stakeholders.
- Effectively articulate information and ideas to a diverse group of people
- Stay up to date with the latest Analytics Engineering trends/Data Engineering/emerging technologies and look for opportunities to improve the stack.
What You'll Bring:
- 7+ years of industry experience in data engineering, and data pipelining
- Experience in building data products
- Expert in advanced SQL and Python
- Expert in ELT
- Familiarity with dbt
- Experience in automating and managing SQL using software engineering best practices.
- Experience with big data platforms such as Redshift, Snowflake
- Excellent command of Git
- Experience with cloud compute environments (AWS) along with cloud-native tools
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology and best practices.
- Graduate-level degree in computer science, engineering, or relevant work experience
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred:
- Exposure to Generative AI and use of unstructured data
- Insurance industry experience
Salary range:$122,500-$210,000
