The Comcast internship/co-op program will help you cultivate meaningful relationships, develop strong interpersonal and business skills, gain exposure to the day-to-day operations of a Fortune 40 media and technology company, and receive mentorship opportunities to expand your professional network.

This program immerses students into the daily operation of a contemporary media and technology company while working side-by-side with Comcast's top innovators. The student becomes an integral part of the Comcast team working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units.

Organization & Team Overview

FreeWheel, a part of Comcast Advertising, works at the intersection of media and technology. Our solutions and systems are used across the entire Ad Tech ecosystem, and our teams are continually developing and delivering products that transform the advertising space.

The OptiML (Mathematical optimization and Machine Learning) team develops, deploys, and supports ML and Optimization processes for forecasting, planning, ad scheduling, and inventory buying applications in the FreeWheel ad serving platform. We use machine learning and mathematical optimization to help supply-side clients characterize, forecast, and manage their supply; and to help internal and external demand-side clients deliver their campaigns successfully. Our team is full of mathematicians, engineers, and people who love data and the problems it can help solve.

Role Description

What are some interesting problems the student will work on?

In your role you'll work on creating and deploying applications to solve advertising business problems. You'll be writing code for cloud-first applications handling huge amounts of data, all to solve critical business problems that help support the advertising ecosystem. As a result, we as consumers continue to get great content.

Where can this student make an impact?

You'll be working with a great team of Machine Learning Engineers to deliver applications and solutions to business problems that will have a lasting effect on FreeWheel's business, how our clients' advertising dollars are spent, and how our clients' inventory (ad space) is optimized. At the end of the internship you'll be able to look back at all that you learned about advertising, tech, cloud computing, as well as data engineering and machine learning and optimization.
