Job Description:
Apex Systems is seeking an Analytical Chemist for an immediate opening with a publicly traded American multinational pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical technologies corporation. The successful candidate will join the Analytical Characterization group within the company’s research and development organization.Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) and Inherent Viscosity (IV) analysis of various polymer products and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) analysis of small organic compounds, additives, degradation products and impurities in complex polymer matrices.
- Development and validation of analytical methods.
- Maintaining good documentation and lab notebook per company procedures, maintaining good house- keeping of the lab, and conducting other laboratory tasks when assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. degree in Chemistry (Polymer, Analytical or Organic) or related scientific discipline with less than 2 years of industrial experience is required. (Post-doctoral experience not included)
- In-depth understanding and hands-on experience of GPC, HPLC and other chromatographic separation techniques are highly preferred.
- Experience with Empower 3 software is preferred.
- Experience with test method development and validation experience is preferred.
- Technical writing skills, effective communication and interpersonal / teamwork skills are required.
- Prior experience working in an analytical laboratory environment in a regulated industry (i.e., Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Biotech, Chemical, etc.) is preferred.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing is required.
