CHIEF OF STAFF

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a Chief of Staff in the Executive Office to support the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This position plays a critical role in supporting the CEO and ensuring VEDP’s strategic priorities are implemented effectively. This role is essential for ensuring the CEO's agenda is carried out efficiently and effectively, helping to drive economic development in the state. It requires a versatile and dynamic leader who is both strategic and operational, with an understanding of governmental processes and economic development.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and execution of VEDP’s quarterly Board of Directors meetings, Executive Leadership Team meetings, and Strategy and Vision Group meetings to include agenda planning, coordination of briefing content development and review, and tracking of action
- Help identify, prioritize, and track CEO’s key initiatives
- Act as a trusted advisor to CEO on both operational and strategic matters, providing insights and recommendations on complex issues related to economic development policy, public-private partnerships, or regional initiatives
- Collect, synthesize, and present key data and analysis to help inform CEO’s decisions regarding economic policies, funding allocations, and initiatives
- In coordination with CEO’s Executive Assistant, manage CEO’s schedule, prioritize requests for meetings, and ensure that CEO’s time is being used effectively and efficiently
- Collaborate with senior leadership team to develop and implement plans to mitigate the impact of crises, and coordinate organization’s response
- Oversee and drive the execution of high-priority projects and programs
- Identify opportunities for improving organizational processes, workflows, and communication channels
- Manage day-to-day operations of CEO’s office, including scheduling, communications, and preparation for meetings in coordination with Executive Assistants in the Executive Office
- Represent CEO at meetings, conferences, and events as needed
- Lead or support special initiatives and projects on behalf of CEO
- Assist in coordinating events, public appearances, and other engagements for CEO

- Familiarity with economic development tools, data analysis platforms (e.g., Salesforce), and government policies/regulations
- Full competency in the suite of Microsoft tools and VEDP templates and style guides
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in economic development, public administration, or a senior management role, including experience working with high-level business executives and/or government officials
- Experience working as a chief of staff, special assistant, or senior advisor to a CEO, C-suite, or senior executive leadership is preferred
