Duties
This position is located at Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB),Assistant Administrator - Field Operations - Tax Audit Division.
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Plan and conduct assigned excise tax audits of alcohol, tobacco, firearms and ammunition industry members.
- Interview accountants, representatives of financial institutions, industry representatives, and others including federal and state officials to obtain information relative to excise tax liability.
- Participate in teams involved in excise tax audits and related matters with other auditors, special agents and/or inspectors.
- Prepare accurate and timely reports and disseminates findings and disclosures developed during excise tax audits and related matters.

The employee provides services to TTB customers and business partners in a geographic area that may include Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, or Maryland and is responsible for providing their own workspace within one of these states. The position requires frequent travel up to 50% of the time throughout this area.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.For the GS-07, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

- Applying accounting or auditing standards in a work setting.
OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Working for a tax administration organization that includes responsibility for documenting results of audits, projects, or analyses in written documents; OR
- Applying accounting or auditing principles to gather and analyze data and draw conclusions.
