The Skidmore College, ACS-approved Department of Chemistry invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will contribute to the growing diversity and excellence of the academic community through their inclusive teaching, scholarship, and service. Summary
The successful candidate will be expected to teach an average of 9 contact hours each semester using inclusive practices in our 100-level, organic, and upper-level elective courses as well as an occasional interdisciplinary first-year seminar (topic open); the candidate is also expected to advise students, participate in departmental and college service, and develop a vibrant research program with undergraduate collaborators emphasizing synthetic chemistry. Skidmore supports faculty in many ways, including through competitive start-up funds; pre-tenure research leaves; internal grants for collaborative research; a new faculty learning community; a Center for Leadership, Teaching, and Learning; funds to travel to present and for societal memberships; writing groups; and a course release in the first year. Education: A Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field with the expertise to teach organic is required, and postdoctoral experience is beneficial, although not required.

Pay Rate: $75,000 - $85,000

The hiring rate for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:
- Prior relevant work or industry experience.
- Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
- Academic discipline (faculty pay ranges reflect 9-month annual salary).
