A Brief Overview
As part of the Individual Giving team, the Annual Giving Officer's primary responsibility is to identify, qualify, cultivate and solicit annual giving donors with the capacity to give $1,500 or more annually to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and potentially move them towards major outright and planned gifts. He/she will work with colleagues to create and implement plans for prospect management and donor stewardship. This position reports to the Senior Associate Director, Annual Giving.

What you will do

  • Maintain a portfolio of 150 prospects
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward annual gifts from prospects/donors/patients treated at CHOP
  • Engage physicians, nurses, board members, CHOP senior leadership and others within the process as needed
  • Conduct a minimum of 120 face-to-face visits yearly, 40-50 being annual giving solicitations
  • Design and implement cultivation and stewardship activities leading up to those solicitations
  • Work closely with colleagues in major and planned giving to develop a pipeline of donors and support the donor continuum
  • Maintain donor/constituent records in Development's constituent relationship management system

  • Coordinate additional acknowledgements.
  • Assist the entire department on reaching financial goals, which will require occasional nights and weekends.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required

Experience Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years experience in development, sales, or related field Required
  • Fundraising experience in university or academic medicine Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office a requirement.
  • Knowledge of SalesForce preferred.
  • A sincere appreciation for people and how they are each uniquely motivated.
  • Poised and engaging, empathetic communications style based on natural warmth and enthusiasm.
  • Fast-paced and results oriented with the ability to work in a timely manner with multiple deadlines and competing requirements.
  • Strong written, presentation, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to relate well to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstration of good judgement, professionalism and the highest standards of ethical conduct.
