Join Our Mission
Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of others? At FEMA you can come to work and leave being a part of a federal agency that helps communities before, during and after disasters.
As employees, we bring a depth of compassion, strength of character, and culture of integrity to our agency. Our core values of compassion, fairness, integrity, and respect are at the heart of our agency.
- Mission: FEMA’s mission is to help people before, during, and after disasters. At FEMA, you can be a part of a team that when disaster strikes YOU are there to change someone’s life for the better.
- Benefits: We provide our employees with a first-class benefit package, including health insurance, life insurance, retirement, 10 paid holidays per year, vacation time, and more. In addition, we offer training/career development opportunities, and flexible work schedules.
- Workplaces: Our workspaces serve as a model to be a ready at a moment’s notice for disaster for federal offices for the future, designed with openness, collaboration and wellness in mind. Whether you need to work independently or gather to exchange ideas, our offices provide the flexibility you need to get the job done.
- Mobile Work: We believe that work is not where it occurs, but what is accomplished. With innovative telework policies and a nimble IT environment, you can access IT resources anywhere, anytime. Collaborating with your team is seamless, both inside and outside of the office.
- Deployments: Our mission requires us to deploy around the country when disaster strikes. Every FEMA employee has day-to-day emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires deployment to disaster sites. During your deployment, you may be required to work irregular hours, work at locations other than your official duty station, and pick up duties other than those specified in the official position description. Travel required to support emergency operations may be extensive (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
