7-Eleven is looking to hire an Employment Counsel for our Legal team! This Director-level team member will provide clear and actionable legal counsel for our Human Resources and Payroll teams.
This role can be based out of our Irving, Texas or Enon, Ohio headquarters.
Our offices are open and our team members are onsite 5 days a week.
What You'll Do:
-Provide employment legal counsel for our HR and Payroll teams in the U.S. and Canada
-Collaborate with the Legal department and business partners to identify and execute practical and creative legal and business solutions
-Engage and manage outside counsel, including negotiating alternative fee arrangements
-Train internal clients on emerging and existing legal principles and corporate policies and procedures
-Build and maintain strong client relationships
-Supervise and manage single plaintiff employment litigation
-Respond to administrative charges, wage claims, and demand letters
-Monitor updates and maintain knowledge of current employment law policies and best practices
-Ad hoc projects or job-related duties
What You Bring:
-Law firm or in-house legal experience managing employment law issues
-The ideal candidate will have extensive experience handling administrative charges, wage claims and demand letters, including investigation, drafting, and negotiation of these matters to resolution
-Licensed attorney in good standing (all U.S. jurisdictions applicable)
-Ability to quickly assess and empower internal client to make decisions
Requirements:
-Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution
-4+ years of experience providing employment law advice
-Knowledge and understanding of current labor and employment law policies
-Proven success with collaboration and problem-solving approach with clients
-Ability to guide, consult, and influence effectively and without bias
-Organized, responsive ,and possess a sense of urgency
-Multi-state labor and employment compliance knowledge is a plus
-Immigration law knowledge is a plus
-Canadian employment law is a plus
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office
