About the Role

Finance Business Partners ensure that National Grid makes sound financial decisions. As an Analyst, your work, whether it's modeling business scenarios or tracking performance metrics and then communicating it clearly, is used by our leaders to make strategic company decisions. While working on multiple projects, you find creative ways to solve big picture challenges through detailed analysis, strategic thinking, and cross-functional teaming.

What You'll Do

  • Support department leaders and other key customers to make sound financial and operational decisions through effective reporting, comprehensive analyses, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and effectively communicating key takeaways.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop financial models and evaluate the financial impact of various initiatives, projects, and operational changes.
  • Develop strong, collaborative working relationships across teams, functions, and levels.
  • Apply analytical skills, judgement, attention to detail, and creativity to effectively solve problems.
  • Navigate ambiguity, take initiative, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, balancing the needs of multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Pivot to address ad hoc requests as they arise in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Proactively build relationships and drive accountability.
  • Present the monthly results in a style suitable for both a finance and non-finance audience, delivering insight and highlighting priority areas of focus, ensuring efficiencies are optimize for the longer term.
  • Influence and challenge business to ensure processes and activities are geared for maximum performance.
  • Identify risks and opportunities to ensure the accountable stakeholder are supported in developing mitigation plans

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Math, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Accounting, quantitative field or equivalent practical experience; MBA or Master's degree a plus
  • 3+ years of Finance related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate, iterate, and influence
  • Ability to thrive in a matrix type environment
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills with an ability to identify key issues and recommend solutions to complex problems using data, logic, and financial insight
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Inquisitive and self-starter
  • Ability to synthesize large datasets and develop and/or pressure test comprehensive analysis to inform the business and drive decisions
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience with SAP and PowerBI are a plus
  • Financial modelling, data consolidation, data analysis (MS Excel) experience
  • Planning, forecasting, and budgeting knowledge

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • Excellent written/oral communication skills, follow-up, and negotiation skills.

Annual Salary

$79,000-93,000

Salary commensurate with experience
